In 2013, we achieved the first promotion in the club's history. In 2014, we managed to prevent relegation. After I had to leave due to my new work situation at recordsale in 2014, the team relegated back to Kreisliga C in 2015, but is back in Kreisliga B since 2019.

6'2008-8'2008

  • Role:
  • Coach
  • Team:
  • Women's hobby team (music festival league system)
  • Goals:
  • Train, having fun, and preparing the team for the final tournament
  • Results:
  • The summer trainings were great, we got big groups coming, even with external people joining in. During the tournament, we won the first game (first victory for the team ever) and the next games - if I remember correctly - we lost with very close results.
  • Bonus info:
  • I easily forget that coaching gig. During my summer semester holidays 2008, I spent three months in Joensuu. A player from Keltik suggested me as coach for the women's team of the music festival "Ilosaarirock". Their name was HardCore Ilotytöt. Ilotytöt meaning "happy girls", derived from "ilosaari", the "happy island" where the festival originated. Of course, it also had a delicate double meaning, with an ilotyttö being a "hooker". As if this wasn't direct enough, they also played in short skirts. ;) We trained twice per week and at the end of the summer music festival season, there was a huge tournament where all the festival crews played against each other. We performed quite well. If I remember correctly, they had never won a game before in those tournaments. But with me, they did. Funny sidenote: When I went to the first training, there were different small groups in the park. I went to a couple of young women and asked them "oletteko ilotytöt?" I didn't know what the word meant and was confused about their embarrassed reaction. Only later I realised I asked them whether they are prostitutes. Should those women read this text: My apologies. I didn't know. ;) P. S. Now that I think about this: This team probably laid the groundwork for my passion for women's football. After all, it was my first women's team. Today I learned (about myself).

10'2000-9'2010

  • Roles:
  • Playing coach, secretary of the board, teamleader, caretaker
  • Team:
  • Company's representative team in the company-league-system of Berlin
  • Goals:
  • AOK Berlin was one of the oldest companies teams in Germany and they won the companies championship during the first years (in the 50s). The team had collapsed in the late 90s and merged with Nestlé in the 00/01 season. I joined in the Autumn and was part of the plan to rebuild the team.
  • Results:
  • The situation when I joined was too difficult already. We relegated to the lowest division. I then brought friends and new folks to the team and started building a new team. I don't remember in detail what happened during the next years, but we promoted a couple of times and when I left in 2010, we played for promotion to the top division (to where they eventually promoted). In 2011, the company got bought by AOK Nordost and thus changed their name to BSG AOK Nordost. The companies league system degressed year by year until it was just a sad shadow of itself. Corona finished it off for good. After about 60 years, there is no companies league system anymore in Berlin. The AOK-team quit in 2019.
  • Bonus info:
  • AOK is a big health insurance company in Germany, with every federal state having their own AOK. I did a practical for the AOK in the late 90s and their responsible manager for student marketing discovered my football and coaching skills and hired me to their marketing team in return for joining their football team. A typical deal in Berlin back in the days. When I went to the university in 2004, I continued for the BSG nonetheless. The most legendary games were against Gilette. They paid half-pro players from top divisions to play for their companies team (second playing right). Michael Fuß or Mike Lünsmann were former pro players who were my opponents, for example. Those were the good days.

10'1998-9'2000

  • Roles:
  • Chairman, playing coach, referee, caretaker
  • Team:
  • University league team
  • Goals:
  • Promote from the 4th to the 1st division
  • Results:
  • I don't remember, but I think we promoted twice in four semesters.
  • Bonus info:
  • AAB was my own team/club in the university league system. Many friends and former classmates stopped playing football in the mid 90s, because club sport wasn't much fun back then. So we started our own team and trained and played in the way we wanted to. We chose the university league system, because it was the cheapest to join with the least restrictions. When I got hired by AOK, I couldn't continue running AAB anymore. We decided that it was the easiest to quit this team and re-start under a different name with a new board ("X-Men"). I continued there as player only. AAB/X-Men continued until 2006.
